CUATA Jewelry designs reflect our Mexican roots in an abstract way. The iconic MAXA collection, which has given the brand international presence, honors the deer as a sacred animal. For many of the native peoples of Mexico, the male deer is a symbol of masculinity and renewal of life because it sheds its antlers every year. The Wixárika, located in the west of the country, believe that the deer translates the language of the gods for humans, and they name it MAXA. In northern Mexico, rural communities collect shed antlers; this provides incentives to protect and keep the species alive and is the focal point of the collection. Each antler is unique in size, shape, color and texture, providing authenticity to each piece. We create each jewel in the MAXA collection with the intention that it becomes an expression of the collector, a talisman in the life of the wearer.
